After a 30-27 loss over the Minnesota Vikings, the 2-3 New Orleans Saints, who could be 4-1 for the season were it not for kicker Martine Grammatica, have signed Mayor Ray Nagin as their kicker. Nagin, who has no experience as a football player, but who befuddles the New Orleans community when he opens his mouth, is the perfect person for the job.
"We don't know what he is going to do" says Coach Sean Payton. "With all of our low expectations of the man, we expect he is going to surprise us."
Nagin, who is looking forward to the Superbowl ring that he can wear around his finger, says he doesn't care much for football, but it will be a good career move. "The NFL pays well," he says, "and I am not finished with this city yet."
