Saints Shatter Big Daddy’s Dreams:

Big Daddy dusts off his golf clubs for Winter golf while the Saints quietly finish another disappointing year on December 28th. This week Big Daddy’ s Saints Beat presents special bonus coverage of the Bayou Classic, reports on the Vince Marinello murder case, recaps the Tampa Bay game, interrogates Sean Payton, and gives out his World Famous Pregame Information.

Thanksgiving Weekend in New Orleans means the tradition of Bayou Classic. Rabid football fans descend on the Crescent City from all over the country to enjoy the pageantry and get down like nowhere else. Unfortunately, bad weather caused fans to celebrate indoors instead of the usual barbecue throw downs outside the Superdome. Though rain slowed activities around the dome, Bourbon Street was jumping. Bayou Classic visitors packed gentlemen’s clubs to the rafters both Friday and Saturday night pulling in huge dollars for the Hustler icon, Larry Flynt. Gussied up ladies ready for action drew on years of experience by giving guys multiple options to fit the current economic conditions, and keeping late night activities rolling well after the rising sun. Fantastic! Who doesn’t love the Bayou Classic?

Opening statements began Tuesday in Vince Marinello’ s second degree murder case. Twenty-eight months have passed since the August ’ 06 shooting took place; that’ s what they call a speedy trail today. Jesus, former Orleans Parish District Attorney Eddie Jordan could have prosecuted this case faster. Defense attorneys told jurors Mr. Marinello did not shoot his wife, claiming he had an alibi at the time of the murder. The defense team argued that the 14-point check list (found in Marinello’ s FEMA trailer), buying a disguise (fake mustache), and purchasing rare bullets which matched the ones removed from the victim doesn’ t prove Mr. Marinello’ s guilt. Wow! I’m convinced; how about you? Do lawyers actually believe the bulls**t that comes out their mouths? Chasing ambulances obviously affects their brain.

Recapping Sunday, Tampa’ s defense stopped the Saints’ opening drive snuffing out Sean Payton’ s pathetic fourth-and-1 play-call. Jonathan Vilma’ s takeaway set up Garrett Hartley’ s field goal. New Orleans led 3-0 going to the second. Matt Bryant’ s two 3-pointers put Tampa in front 6-3. Drew Brees’ 2-minute drill gave the Saints a 10-6 halftime advantage. Starting the third, Clifton Smith gave Tampa great field position, eight plays later the Bucs surged ahead 13-10. Jeff Garcia, the legendary San Francisco Bathhouse superstar, struck quickly swelling Tampa’ s lead to 20-10 after three. The Saints fought back tying the game with 5:34 left, but Coach Payton’ s poor leadership failed New Orleans again. Tampa kicked the game winner with 1:55 remaining on the clock, closing the door on the Saints playoff hopes.

Sean Payton’ s postgame quote was: “ We just, in the end didn’ t have enough in us, and ended up losing a game to a good team.” No Coach, you didn’ t have it in you. The team played their guts out knowing a loss ended their season and you let them down by being an egotistical sh**head. Coach Payton, Big Daddy has some questions for you. Inclement weather demands power football, how come you never attempted to establish a running game Sunday? Hey Coach, what are you going to do about 0-18 when trailing heading to the fourth quarter? Since you love passing so much, why is your record 3-15 when the Saints throw more than 40 times? The only thing holding this team back is you! When are you going to change? Better yet what can make you change? Not making the playoffs with the talent you possess is inexcusable; you deserve to stand in the unemployment line. Do us all a favor this off-season while you’re hanging out with Kenny Chesney; watch some game tapes of the Giants and implement the necessary changes needed to balance the offense.
