Big Daddy Wants Change Saints Fans Can Believe In:

     What’s up Saints fans? This week Big Daddy recaps the Denver game, examines 2008 team weaknesses and offers solutions Big Daddy looks at the Superdome’s new beer vending policy, and Big Daddy releases his world famous, pertinent pregame information.

     Sunday’s game, provided Fox’s national TV audience a thrilling match-up between two-high powered offenses, which lived up to the hype! The whole country watched non-stop action in a great, down-to-the-wire, edge-of-your-seat game. The capitalists at Fox took full economic advantage, forcing the masses to endure unbelievably long commercial interruptions.

     Denver seized control early, building a 21-3 first quarter advantage. The Saints withstood the early ambush and hung tough throughout. Pierre Thomas’ fourth quarter touchdown pulled the Saints close, but the tying 2 point conversion failed. Scott Shanle’s late turnover gave the Saints a chance to pull out a mile-high victory; however, Gramatica’s game winning 43 yard field goal attempt sailed wide right. Saints fans suffered another painful loss in a winnable game.

     Before we focus on team weaknesses, lets talk about serious section 645 fan issues. During the Tampa game, beer vendors told Saints fans league rules prohibited bottles @ NFL games — An Obvious Lie — because Big Daddy witnessed fans in other NFL stadiums holding beer bottles. If I wanted to hear lies, I’d just listen to Sean Payton’s press conferences. …

     Big Daddy sees multiple problems hurting the 2008 Saints:

  • Although improved, the defense still can’t stop the run or the pass;

  • Lack of a consistent pass rush and not enough timely blitzes;

  • Too many missed tackles;

  • Continued poor pass-happy play calling;

  • Refusal to use Deuce:

              1.Takes downhill running out of the offense, and

              2.Makes short yardage conversions difficult;

  • Payton’s coaching style:

             1. created a finesse team mentality, and

             2. overall the team lacks toughness -- way too many injuries!

  • Finally, Coach Payton’s SOS (Same Old S**t) Approach.

     After back-to-back losses, the Saints face an uphill battle; but we can do it! Big Daddy thinks the 2008 Saints are loaded and missing the playoffs is unacceptable. Fixing theses problems depends solely on Sean Peyton.

     Successful NFL coaches evolve, constantly adapting to stay one step ahead of their opponents. The disappointing 2007 results were directly attributed to Coach Payton’s unchanged 2006 SOS Approach, which the every NFL team had figured out.

     Coach Payton, Big Daddy begs you to make the necessary adjustments. Get Deuce involved, especially in short yardage situations, more running — less passing— instill team toughness by having hard core tackling drills every practice, and create more pass rush by blitzing — Coach, Please show me you’re not a one trick pony.
